NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. : Next Generation device that will enable visually impaired to read again has been launched. This wearable all-in-one virtual reality device may re-open the wearer's eyes to a world they believed forever lost due to failing sight. The NuEyes' proprietary software has paired with Pico Interactive's all-in-one Virtual Reality headset to develop this device for people with macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, and other vision conditions. Thanks to them that they will once again be able to read, watch movies, see loved ones' faces and lead a better quality of life.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 285 million people across the globe suffer from some sort of vision impairment. Early age-related macular degeneration affects an estimated eight million Americans, of which more than one million will develop advanced age-related macular degeneration within the next five years. Technological innovation in visual aids has been stagnant over the last 40 years. While devices exist that can show written materials' type on a larger screen for easier readability, they lack portability and are useless for recognizing faces at a party or watching a sporting event.

In a partnership that will change the lives of millions of people, NuEyes, a pioneer in the field of low-vision technology, and Pico Interactive, maker of innovative VR solutions has developed this breakthrough device.

"I am always pleased to see new innovation for the visually impaired," said Wayne Heidle, director of community relations and assistant professor – technologist for Marshall B. Ketchum University. "Having a wearable device that offers a wide field of view, is extremely easy to use, and comfortable to wear is a big step forward. The latest wearable device from NuEyes will not disappoint."

"At NuEyes, we are extremely passionate about bringing the right innovation to market to help the visually impaired. Partnering with Pico Interactive was the clear choice for the next generation of 'Easy' products," said Mark Greget, founder/CEO NuEyes.
