Smoking is the single largest preventable cause of disease globally and it harms nearly every organ in the body including eyes. Prior studies found small effects of chronic smoking on spatial and colour vision, but they were inconclusive. The researchers at Perception, Neuroscience and Behavior Laboratory in Brazil and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.condudted a study to investigate the association between tobacco addiction and visual impairment, and to clarify the results of previous studies, we aimed to replicate and evaluate disturbances of the visual system by measuring the CSF and colour discrimination ability.
