New dimension to medical imaging-Personal Ultrasound for bedside diagnosis
Its groundbreaking, amazing invention -Now you have a personal Ultrasound for bedside diagnosis that enables you fast and convenient scanning. It brings a new dimension to medical imaging because it’s as simple as texting: open an image, tag a colleague, and send a message. It is a step forward towards making Medical imaging accessible to everyone on the planet.
US company Butterfly Networks has produced an ultrasound scanner that plugs into an iPhone and can be bought by anyone for $2,000. A pocket-sized ultrasound provides a complete window into the human body. It is designed to last an entire shift or over 2 continuous hours of scanning. A built-in battery and wireless charging deliver ultimate convenience. It carries the technology right in itself, in the shape of a wand, requiring no separate attachments to larger machines for scanning different parts of the body.
Butterfly iQ is a handheld ultrasound machine connected to an iPhone that allows you to take your own ultrasound as your doctor analyzes the imagery in real time over a video chat. It has an anodized aluminium body built for durability, thermal efficiency, and to withstand the harshest of conditions. Butterfly’s app features 18 presets and familiar touch interactions for unprecedented ease-of-use.
Although the technology is FDA approved, the mobile ultrasound machine is cleared for medical-professional use only. Additionally, the company behind the device, Butterfly Network, is improving the software to allow for a real-time analysis from anywhere with the doctor.
Its inventor, Jonathan Rothberg, claims it will have as much impact on healthcare as the stethoscope did 200 years ago.
The company is also building an AI-based software to help guide an untrained person to take a proper ultrasound, so the file can be sent to a professional for analysis.
