The lens have been FDA based on the scientific evidences provided by clinical study of 24 patients that evaluated daytime and night time driving performance while wearing the contact lenses.
The contact lens is said to senses lighting conditions. The manufacturer claim they help the eyes recover faster from bright light, reducing halos and starbursts at night. Its photochromic technology activates the lens in under 1 minute and fades back within 90 seconds. The Company also claim they are the only contact lenses that provides 100% protection against UVB rays.
With cutting edge technology ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ go beyond vision correction by reducing exposure to bright light—both indoors and outdoors3,5. With its photochromic technology, the lens activates in less than a minute and fades back within 90 seconds3. Plus, ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ are the only contact lens that provides 100% protection against UVB§ rays. UV-absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. Long-term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities).
“This product will give contact lens wearers a seamless way to manage changing light conditions in their everyday lives and activities, building on our commitment to helping people see better, connect better, and live better,” stated Thomas Swinnen, President, North America at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
